Recognition Prior Learning (RPL) is an Assessment process that allows you during the course of your employment, you will acquire skills that you have developed such as life experience, work and training that may count towards a nationally recognised qualification or statement of attainment. And by having your existing skills assessed, can help reduce your study time. In some cases, your skills can be recognised in a way that you will not have to do any further study.
RPL is a government recognised qualification option in Australia delivered by Registered Training Organisations like college delivery Certificate III to Diploma in Vocational program. Under the education and training frameworks in Australia, RPL candidates can use prior learning to fulfil the requirements of full qualifications without to do any further study.

Registered training organisations (RTOs) are providers and assessors of nationally recognised training that have been registered by the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA). In Australia, only RTOs can issue nationally recognised qualifications
RPL doesn’t require any class based or independent study. It is process verifying the knowledge, experience and your skills that you have developed in the workplace through the course of your career.
By using RPL to obtain a qualification, you will not be required to take time off work to study or complete assessments, you will not be required to study subjects you already understand and you will save money on course fees.

To obtain qualification using RPL, you will not require to attend any class. The verification is based on your experience, knowledge and skills that you have been develop in the workplace throughout your career. With RPL you will not required to study subjects that you are already experience in and it’s much quicker and faster than taking normal course.
To obtain RPL for any qualification or unit, you must be able to demonstrate the range of competencies on that units describe what is expected of an employee in the workplace. In applying for RPL you must demonstrate that you can satisfy the assessment criteria for the selected unit or qualification without having undergone the formal training course. That is, you will present for assessment evidence of the relevant skills and knowledge you have developed during your extensive work history, similar training or life experience.

Yes it can be used, if your overseas industry experience can be verified as legitimate and valid. The evidence must be in English or translated.

Once the RPL Evidence and documents has been collected, the application will be submit to the accessor (RTO for Processing) The time period for having the Qualification issued by the RTO is generally around 2 – 4 weeks
